Walking can decrease symptoms of depression, anxiety, and even schizophrenia, according to the Mayo Clinic.
My anxiety level goes up and down just like my depression diagnosis. One way I'm learning to deal with this, is by spending time walking. I find that if I can keep myself busy logging miles, I'm better able to support my mental health. Focusing on my health, lacing up my sneakers and trekking about has helped ease my mind.
That's why I was pleased to partner with 99Walks. 99Walks is an online community of women getting healthier and happier through the simple act of walking together. After joining, they give you the tools you need including:
A tracking app with walking fitness classes, podcasts, meditation and workout music.
Monthly rewards for reaching your walking goals.
A supportive, positive community to keep you moving and inspired.
I've been walking with 99Walks for a couple weeks now and I've learned that:
1. 99Walks keeps me motivated, if I happen to overindulge in sugary foods, I will walk.
2. If anxious and unhappy thoughts creep in, I can listen to a motivating podcast or crank up a 99Walks music playlist and walk.
3. I can keep the weight that I worked hard to take off maintained by walking.
I also have an amazing support system of like minded women in the 99Walks private Facebook group and a team of 99Walks tribe members that check in on me with daily motivational emails.
I'd love to have you join me! Follow my link HERE.
